[How Often Do People Actually Copy and Paste from _Stack Overflow_?](https://stackoverflow.blog/2021/04/19/how-often-do-people-actually-copy-and-paste-from-stack-overflow-now-we-know/) — The folks at Stack Overflow decided to track every use of Ctrl/Cmd+C on the site over two weeks and it turns out a quarter of users landing on a question page copies _something_ within five minutes. The stats go a _lot_ further than that though..

🚀 [Open Source Goes to Mars](https://github.blog/2021-04-19-open-source-goes-to-mars/) — In case you missed it, humanity [flew a helicopter on Mars](https://mars.nasa.gov/technology/helicopter/#) the other day, and open source played a big role. Apparently “nearly 12,000” developers contributed to the underlying software used and all have been rewarded with a badge on their GitHub profiles. I love this because it emphasizes the “standing on the shoulders of giants” aspect that makes open source so powerful.

[Cloudflare Workers Unbound Now Generally Available](https://blog.cloudflare.com/workers-unbound-ga/) — Workers _Unbound_ is Cloudflare's serverless _Workers_ system but for functions that need long execution times (as you’d need to use [the WebSockets support](https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-websockets-in-workers/) they've just added). You pay per request _and_ by the GB/sec and get 400,000 GB/sec for free. A nice bonus is they’ve halved egress data costs too.

- It's been 7 months since Nvidia's planned acquisition of Arm was announced, but the UK government has [decided to 'intervene'](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56804007) and it's _"far from certain that this deal will go through."_
- Cloudflare is working on an ['Images' service](https://blog.cloudflare.com/announcing-cloudflare-images-beta/) where you upload images once and can then retrieve variants of them on demand, a la Cloudinary, say. They've also released their [DDOS attack trends for 2021 Q1.](https://blog.cloudflare.com/ddos-attack-trends-for-2021-q1/)

[Porting DOOM to Fastly's Serverless Edge Platform](https://www.fastly.com/blog/compute-edge-porting-the-iconic-video-game-doom) — What better way to show off your edge computing platform than porting a 28 year old game to it? :-) I’m not convinced of the “why” here but the “how” tickles a curious itch.

['Thanks for the Bonus, I Quit!'](https://madned.substack.com/p/thanks-for-the-bonus-i-quit) — On one hand a corporate tale of greed and desperation, but on the other, human psychology and the power of expectations. A fun little tale, nonetheless.
