[ACM Digital Library Open to All Until June 30, 2020](https://dl.acm.org/) — The ACM (one of the biggest computing academic societies) has kindly opened its digital library (which is packed with interesting papers, research and books) for free for the next three months. There’s _so much_ in here, but how about a report on [the evolution of Lua](https://dl.acm.org/doi/abs/10.1145/1238844.1238846), a [history of Erlang](https://dl.acm.org/doi/abs/10.1145/1238844.1238850) or, if you’re brave, [the early history of COBOL?](https://dl.acm.org/doi/abs/10.1145/800025.1198367)

[How Are Unix Pipes Implemented?](https://toroid.org/unix-pipe-implementation) — Some serious spelunking kernel-wise here. Just _how_ do those all important pipes work? Well, we need to go back to 1973..

[MeiliSearch: Fast, Open Source Full Text Search Database](https://github.com/meilisearch/MeiliSearch) — Think of this as a zero-config alternative to Elasticsearch. It’s built in Rust and supports things like tolerating typos in queries, filters, synonym checks, and is well suited for fast ‘as you type’ searches.

[An Architecture for a Multilingual Wikipedia](http://simia.net/download/multilingualwikipedia.pdf) — An interesting paper from the creator of [Wikidata](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Main_Page) that proposes a way to architect an ‘abstract’ Wikipedia where content can be rendered down into multiple languages as necessary. There’s a lot to chew on here.
