[The ACME Protocol Becomes an IETF Standard](https://letsencrypt.org/2019/03/11/acme-protocol-ietf-standard.html) — 19 years after HTTP over TLS (i.e. HTTPS) was finalized as [RFC 2818](https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2818), the Automatic Certificate Management Environment (ACME) protocol, as used by Let’s Encrypt, has become an IETF standard with [RFC 8555](https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8555).

[GoDaddy, Apple, and Google Misissue 1 Million+ Certificates](https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2019/03/godaddy-apple-and-google-goof-results-in-1-million-misissued-certificates/) — A misconfiguration in the certificate generational tool some browser-trusted authorities use led to 63-bit serial numbers being used rather than 64-bit. This isn’t a major, exploitable security issue _but_ will still result in mass revocations. There’s [an interesting discussion thread](https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/mozilla.dev.security.policy/S2KNbJSJ-hs) about the issue too.
